Getahun Walelgn Dagnaw is a Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Advisor to the State Minister of the Government’s Legal and Justice Service Division at the FDRE Ministry of Justice. He holds Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) from (Haramaya University – 2008) LL.M in International Economic & Business Law (Kyushu University – 2012), LL.M in International Business Law (Central European University – 2014) and LL.M in Comparative Law, Economics & Finance (University of Turin and International University College of Turin – 2017).
Getahun has extensive expertise in international arbitration, international economic law, international investment law, and business and commercial laws. He has lectured at several Ethiopian universities teaching courses in the above areas. He is advising the Government of Ethiopian on advanced and critical legal matters, such as arbitration, investment law, regional and multilateral trade laws and the like. He has also an experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, and representing the Government of Ethiopia and its agencies in national litigations before Ethiopian courts and international arbitration centers. Mr. Getahun was also part of the team that represented the Government of Ethiopia in the Pretoria Peace Talks in 2022.
